About Coty Calvin

Coty S. Calvin is an experienced trial attorney and former U.S. Army Officer whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and justice. Originally from the Midwest, Coty earned a business degree from Ball State University’s Miller College of Business in 2010 before beginning a diverse and distinguished professional journey that has taken him from Afghanistan to the courtroom.

In 2011, Coty commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army, serving honorably for eight years. During his military career, he held key leadership positions including Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Troop Commander, and Battalion Intelligence Officer. He deployed to Afghanistan with a Special Operations Task Force in 2015 and 2016, where he led intelligence and targeting operations in high-pressure combat environments. His time in uniform reinforced his dedication to discipline, mission focus, and integrity, principles that continue to guide his legal career.

After completing his military service, Coty earned his law degree from Indiana University’s McKinney School of Law. He went on to serve as a prosecutor in Indiana and later as the Chief Deputy County Attorney in Beaverhead County, Montana, where he handled a wide range of criminal and civil cases on behalf of the State and County. His prosecutorial work included major felonies, misdemeanors, and complex legal issues involving violent crimes, wildlife offenses, and property crimes. Coty built a reputation for thorough preparation, clear advocacy, and a fair-minded approach to justice.

Now in the private sector, Coty draws on his years of courtroom experience and his deep understanding of how prosecutors build and present their cases. His background gives him a unique perspective in defending clients, anticipating prosecutorial strategies, identifying weaknesses, and ensuring that every client’s rights are protected at every stage of the legal process.

Coty’s professional path reflects a rare combination of military leadership, legal skill, and practical business experience. Whether leading soldiers in combat or defending clients in court, he brings the same precision, discipline, and sense of purpose to every case he takes on.

Outside of work, Coty is a devoted husband and father who enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, hunting, fishing, and exploring Montana’s wild country. His love for the outdoors and his commitment to ethical stewardship of land and wildlife continue to shape both his personal values and his approach to the law.
