Glacier, MT - Injuries Reported in Accidents on Going-to-the-Sun Rd at The Loop

Glacier, MT (June 27, 2024) – Emergency responders stated that multiple car accidents on Going-to-the-Sun Road caused congestion or blocked traffic entirely on Wednesday night.

Two separate accidents, sometime after 3:00 p.m. slowed traffic at the park entrance and at “The Loop.” An accident halfway between “the loop” and the west tunnel occurred when a vehicle swerved to miss another car that crossed over the yellow line, causing the first vehicle to hit a rock. Shortly thereafter, two automobiles collided while merging from two lanes at the park entrance.

At around 5:40 pm, park dispatch received reports of a third accident and a vehicle on fire about two miles east of the Apgar campground turn-off. One passenger was sent by ambulance to Logan Health in Whitefish to determine the extent of their injuries. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt in the crashes, but officers are still looking into the incident and seeking witnesses. An investigation proceeds in the interim.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Montana

Navigating the aftermath of a multi-vehicle accident in Montana presents a variety of unique challenges, one of which is the determination of liability amid the chaos of multiple drivers and potentially severe injuries. A meticulous examination of the evidence surrounding the crash and adherence to Montana’s traffic laws is necessary to determine the cause of these multi-vehicle collisions, which frequently occur as a result of a sequence of events initiated by one or more drivers.

The general complexity and complications of these multi-driver accidents often result in a higher number of liable individuals and a more difficult legal response for any victims, which adds to the overall stress and frustration of the afternoon in comparison to crashes involving only one vehicle or fewer parties. Thankfully, victims in Montana are entitled to safeguard their legal rights after a collision and can do so with the help of a seasoned lawyer.
