Great Falls, MT - Woman Killed in Car Accident on US 89 at Hwy 431

Great Falls, MT (April 15, 2025) – An elderly woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Teton County on Saturday, April 12.

The crash was reported to the Montana Highway Patrol just after 2:00 p.m., and near the intersection of U.S. Highway 89 (1st Road SE) and State Highway 431/565 (3rd Lane), about four miles east/southeast of Fairfield. The MHP says the collision involved two vehicles: a Dodge Caravan with an 88-year-old female driver from Hamilton, and a Chevrolet Silverado with an 18-year-old male driver from Great Falls.

The Dodge spun halfway around and remained on the road; the Chevy went off the left side of the road and into a ditch. The driver of the Dodge was taken to Benefis Health System in Great Falls, where she died due to her injuries. Her name has not been released. In the interim, an inquiry into the cause of the incident is still ongoing, and witnesses were asked to step forward.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family members. Our thoughts are extended to the injured victim and their loved ones at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Fatal Vehicle Collisions in Montana

Car accidents can significantly affect every aspect of life. They can have a profound impact on one’s life, regardless of whether they sustain injuries, property damage, or both. Regrettably, the situation is only exacerbated by the constant phone calls from insurance companies, medical expenses, and lost wages.

Montana is a “tort” insurance state, which means that you may be able to pursue a claim for damages against another individual if their negligence is the cause of your injuries. Although the negligence of another motorist is the primary cause of numerous car accidents, some are also the consequence of an automobile defect. Too frequently, defective components, including tires susceptible to blowouts, malfunctioning brakes, and explosive airbags, are introduced to the market. Drivers, passengers, and other individuals may sustain catastrophic injuries or even fatalities as a result of these products. If you sustained an injury as a result of an automotive defect, you can also hold these manufacturers accountable for their misconduct.
