Billings, MT (September 6, 2024) – On Thursday, September 5, Billings Police Department officers identified the victim of this week’s deadly pedestrian collision as 51-year-old Lonnie Dale Stewart of Billings.
According to Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Coroner Valerie Juhl. Stewart’s death was caused by multiple blunt-force injuries. Per authorities, Stewart was hit around the 2400 block of Central Avenue and was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries but died shortly thereafter.
The vehicle involved was driven by a 39-year-old male traveling eastbound when it hit Stewart. The driver did not initially stop but later began cooperating with the investigation. However, the BPD crash team is continuing to investigate, and it’s unclear if citations or charges are pending.
